Community Guidelines

  1. Purpose

These guidelines set expectations for respectful engagement, protect members from harm, and ensure the forum remains a safe space. By participating, all members agree to uphold these principles.

  2. Core Values

    Supportive

This forum is a space for trans people to give and receive support. We encourage sharing experiences, insights, and strategies with kindness and care. No one should feel alone in navigating gender, identity, or systemic barriers.

    Respectful

We honor the diversity of trans lives. Members are expected to engage with openness, without judgment, and to respect differing experiences -- especially across race, class, disability, migration status, gender expression and performance, sex, and other intersections.

    Empowering

We believe in self-determination. This space encourages trans people to make informed decisions about their lives, access resources, and collectively build knowledge that strengthens our communities.

    Safe

Safety is not just about content moderation; it's about ensuring this space remains free from harassment, transphobia, racism, and other forms of harm. Privacy, security, and the right to exist without surveillance or intimidation are fundamental.

    Anti-Oppressive

This is an explicitly anti-racist, anti-zionist, anti-xenophobic, and anti-carceral space. We reject the use of feminist or LGBTQI+ rights and culture to justify state violence, and we actively resist pinkwashing.

    Friendly

We foster warmth, care, and solidarity. While disagreements happen, we assume good faith from those engaging respectfully. However, our friendliness does not extend to those who deny trans existence or perpetuate harm.

  3. Principles

    3.1. Feminism and Trans Rights

Moltaqa is built by and for trans people. We are committed to feminism and trans liberation, rejecting patriarchy, cissexism, and binary ideas of gender that uphold systemic oppression. While respectful discussion is encouraged, trans existence and rights are not up for debate.

    3.2. Intersectionality

No form of oppression exists in isolation. Trans people experience discrimination shaped by race, gender, nationality, sect, class, and disability. This space rejects racism, xenophobia, and all forms of exclusion.

We also reject Zionism, colonialism, and military occupation, recognizing their role in systemic violence. Palestinian liberation is integral to our commitment to justice, and we oppose pinkwashing -- the use of LGBTQ+ rights and culture to justify state violence. Our forum is a space where Palestinians, stateless people, and those resisting oppression can speak freely and safely.

    3.3. Bodily Autonomy and Self-Determination

Everyone has the right to define their gender, make choices about their body, and access affirming care without coercion. We recognize the barriers trans people face -- whether through restrictive laws, medical gatekeeping, or social pressure -- and we stand for the right to make decisions on their own terms, prioritizing their health and safety.

    3.4. Justice and Collective Care

Trans people deserve more than survival -- we deserve to thrive. That means challenging harmful systems while also prioritizing care, mutual support, and solidarity. Change starts with how we treat one another.

  4. Community Guidelines

    4.1. Inclusivity and Respect

    • Treat everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of their background, identity, or opinions.
    • Use inclusive language and respect people's pronouns and names.
    • Avoid slurs, stereotypes, and discriminatory remarks based on gender, race, age, ability, religion, or other identities.

    4.2. Constructive Engagement

    • Approach discussions with curiosity and a willingness to learn.
    • Address disagreements respectfully and focus on behaviors, not personal attacks.
    • Recognize that opinions are not facts. While complex topics like sex work, medical access, or legal policies can be discussed, some perspectives are harmful or misinformed. Discussions should be rooted in respect, lived experience, and factual accuracy.
    • Avoid moral superiority. Judging others from a rigid standpoint fosters alienation, not dialogue.
    • The views expressed by individuals do not represent the platform as a whole.

    4.3. Privacy and Safety

    • Do not share your own or others' personal details (e.g., names, address, contact info).
    • Never pressure others to reveal their identity or personal details.
    • Keep the forum URL private.
  5. Posting Guidelines

    5.1. Be Clear and Thoughtful

    • Use descriptive titles to help others find discussions.
    • Keep posts meaningful and easy to understand.
    • Avoid excessive formatting (e.g., all caps, repeated emojis).

    5.2. Stay on Topic

    • Keep conversations relevant to the thread.
    • If a discussion shifts significantly, start a new thread instead of overtaking the original post.

    5.3. Protect Mental Health

Avoid graphic or explicitly violent details when discussing self-harm, suicide, or other distressing experiences. If you need to share something potentially triggering, please include a content warning at the start of your post so others can make an informed choice about reading further.

Share experiences responsibly, focusing on personal truths and recovery without triggering graphic details.

    5.4. No Screenshots

To protect anonymity and security, screenshots are disabled by design on the app. We ask that you respect this practice on the website as well and avoid taking or sharing screenshots of posts or profiles.

7.3. Severe Violations & Safety Measures

    This includes:

    • Threats of violence.
    • Doxxing or exposure of personal details that endangers someone.
    • Sharing non-consensual intimate images.
    • Coordinated harassment or targeted abuse.

Our priority is keeping this space safe without relying on systems that harm us. Whenever possible, we handle issues within the community rather than turning to authorities.

    7.4. Confidentiality

We respect privacy in all reports. Identifying details will not be shared without consent unless required for safety.

These guidelines apply across all our platforms and spaces. By participating, you agree to uphold these principles and contribute to a safe, welcoming, and impactful community.
